MY MODALITIES
The following are a few of the therapy approaches I use most often. Because no two people come to therapy with the same needs, we may draw from more than one approach and tailor the work to what is most helpful for you.
EMOTIONALLY FOCUSED COUPLES THERAPY (EFCT)
Helps couples identify and change patterns of disconnection while strengthening emotional safety and attachment. Often used for conflict, intimacy problems, betrayal, and relationship distress. Read more by clicking HERE.
MENTALIZATION-BASED THERAPY (MBT)
Helps people better understand their own thoughts and feelings while staying curious about others' perspectives. Often used for personality disorders, relational trauma, mistrust, and intense relationship patterns. Read more by clicking HERE.
SEX THERAPY
Addresses concerns related to desire, arousal, orgasm, pain, intimacy, sexual communication, identity, and body image. It is not one single modality, and most sex therapists are trained to help clients explore various treatment options for sexual problems. Learn more about the concerns sex therapy can help address by clicking HERE.
SCHEMA THERAPY
Targets long-standing beliefs and coping patterns that often develop from early relational experiences. Often used for personality disorders, childhood trauma, chronic shame, depression, anxiety, and relationship difficulties. Read more by clicking HERE.
DIALECTICAL BEHAVIORAL THERAPY (DBT)
Builds skills for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and healthier relationships. Often used for personality disorders, self-harm, trauma-related dysregulation, chronic or treatment resistant depression, and anxiety. Read more by clicking HERE.
COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY (CBT)
Helps identify and change unhelpful patterns in thoughts and behavior. There are various types of CBT that help alleviate symptoms of depression, anxiety, and OCD, for example. Read more by clicking HERE.
